I swear to God I've already have the whole main plot in mind before I've heard of the Jasper Ceylon scandal. Real life surely is weirder than I could've ever imagined.

Also, disclaimer: just in case anyone thought the plot was a real-life event - it's not. It's all fiction. The physical locations might be real and accurate, but everything that involves characters is fiction: my dad never got into fishing, he never brought me to fishing during all the times we were in Swatow, I never got into fishing myself, there do be a bookstore called The Library Project but I've never contacted them through email and thus have no way to know what kind of publications they'd accept, etc..
